The basement in the 10th district becomes a canvas for farm-related fantasies and realities. Playful exhibition design and artworks are staged as an immersive installation. The artistic positions—sometimes humorous, sometimes critical, but always deeply personal in their relation to the theme—highlight facets of a shared experience: a longing for greenery, for supposed primal simplicity, for the lost “good old days”; nostalgic impulses often triggered by social unrest and precariousness.

Phenomena such as hobby horsing, horse girls, homesteading, tradwives, urban gardening, worm bins, GORP-core, survival shows, the Forsthaus Rampensau, and many more are outgrowths of cultural longings in our late-capitalist present.

FARM INDEX is an attempt to engage with our colorful, mixed-bag nostalgia through a small, taxonomically organized glimpse into shared visual worlds.
