“Hobby horsing” has been gaining popularity over the past year or so. As the archetype of the “horse girl” demonstrates, the dream of owning a horse is a common experience for many young (and older) people. The affordable solution: a fabric horse head mounted on a round stick and your own imagination. The toy is both simple and ingenious, and a magnificent symbol of the boundless potential for joy through play.

In a group workshop, old socks will be mended, stuffed, decorated, styled, and finally mounted on a stick. Whether it’s a hobby horse for a leisurely ride, turbulent tournaments, or simply for decoration, this is where unfulfilled and hidden “horse girl” dreams come true.
