KissatenVienna.exe: Stamp Rally
As part of Rebecca Merlic’s solo exhibition KissatenVienna.exe, discotec hosts a one-day Stamp Rally extending the project into the surrounding neighborhood. Inspired by Kissaten, her research-based game exploring connections between Japanese and Viennese coffeehouse culture, the event invites visitors to actively engage with the area.
Participants can visit selected locations along Schleifmühlgasse, each hosting a unique artist-designed stamp. By collecting them, visitors gradually assemble a small, free artwork. The rally encourages movement, discovery, and informal encounters across different spaces.
First realized by the artist in Kobe, Japan, this Vienna edition adapts the format to a local context. The event takes place during the regular opening hours of participating venues. Visitors can begin at discotec, where stamp cards are available and the project is introduced.
discotec was founded to create an independent platform for artists and curators in the field of new media and performance in contemporary art. Our program reflects on a society that is faced with a digitalized world and a digitalized discourse. We must deal with its demands, while embracing the artistic possibilities that come along. Together with a diverse set of artists and collectives invited for our shows, we are aiming to transport these topics to a broader audience. At the same time, we are trying to challenge conventional exhibition formats in this culturally exciting street of Vienna.
