Martina Lajczak: Rivers We Carry, Mountains We Seek
21.5.–31.5.2026

in Collaboration with Alma Bektas, Alex Moser and Christian Sundl
“Rivers We Carry, Mountains We Seek” (2023 - ongoing) explores the experiences and realities of first- and second-generation Polish migrant women in Austria. Grounded in a personal narrative and developed in dialogue with current social and political dynamics, the project aims to shed light on questions of identity, migration, integration, discrimination, and the often-unspoken trauma tied to these themes. Drawing from both artistic and sociological approaches, it uses a wide range of media—from analog and digital photography and lens-based practices to generative algorithms and sculpture. The interplay of these diverse methods reflects the layered complexity of the subject matter and seeks to create space for personal experiences to resonate as part of a broader, collective narrative.
