For the Independent Space Index Festival Der Betrieb proposes an extract from The Season of Narratives. The season took place in April and May as part of the brut Wien program; it is a durational dance performance that explores how stories shape identity and guide behaviour. As the dancers’ repetitive movements are woven together with spoken words, what emerges is a space for reflection, where dance and text invite everybody to reevaluate the role narratives play. For the festival Alexander Gottfarb and Anna Maria Nowak perform for two hours daily, 16:00-18:00. They dance and tell stories exploring how narratives create meaning, offer models for action and influence the sense of self. When one narrative becomes dominant, it risks silencing others and reinforcing power structures- raising questions of who controls a story and whose voices remain unheard. From 14:00 to 18:00 the audience can engage with sound and text at Der Betrieb or just come by and hang out with us.
